The subclavius muscle is a small triangular shaped muscle which lies interposed between the clavicle and the first rib.
Origin
- 1st rib and Costal cartilage of 1st rib
Insertion
- Subclavian groove of clavicle on the inferior surface of the middle third of the clavicle
Action
- Depression of clavicle
- Elevation of first rib
- Stabilisation of the sternoclavicular joint via the above motions
Innervation
- Nerve to subclavius
Blood Supply
- Pectoral branch of the thoracoacromial trunk
